What is your role within Scarborough Museums Trust?

As a Learning Assistant my role is to deliver sessions to primary school children as well as helping on other learning events which relate closely to our collections.

What is your favourite item in the collection?

A 1940s Bakelite Radio. Bakelite is an early plastic and was used for radios because of its heat resistant properties.

What do you like about this item?

The style and shape of the radio reminds me of a period when fashions were simple, but elegant. The idea that this radio will have brought news and stories into a home is a significant factor, and one in which children can identify with today.

What does Scarborough Collections mean to you?

From a learning perspective, the collections are an exciting and creative resource to use to engage children.
